The beloved “Tren del Recuerdo” (Train of Memory) is rolling into August with exciting news: it has announced four nostalgic journeys for the month, including a brand-new destination—Los Andes, a town that hasn’t seen a passenger train in over 30 years.
This vintage train experience, operating for the past 14 years, has captured the hearts of travelers across Chile’s Valparaíso, O’Higgins, and Maule regions, offering a unique window into the golden age of rail travel.
A Historic Return to Los Andes
Thanks to the efforts of EFE Valparaíso and the Corporación Pro Aconcagua, the “Tren del Recuerdo” will once again bring rail passengers to Los Andes. The inaugural journey is set for Saturday, August 9, departing from Estación Central in Santiago at 08:20 a.m.
Travelers can choose between several guided tours through the Aconcagua Valley, including:
- A traditional Chilean lunch at Termas del Corazón, a historic hot springs resort.
- A premium wine tasting at Viña San Esteban, a boutique vineyard nestled in the valley.
Tickets for this route range from $29,900 to $109,000 CLP, and include round-trip train travel and all activities listed in the selected tour.
